Learning Time
Everyday in the morning, a 1-2 hour lesson is taught that is appropriate to the age group:
16 months to 24 months old: Building blocks, shapes, colours, animals, objects and names, practice sorting and matching, body parts
through stories, song, and rhyme; promote self-care skills such as feeding, cleaning, and dressing; support large motor development and
eye-hand coordination through a variety of activities such as kicking balls, tossing, writing, drawing, and lacing.
2 years to 4 years old: Recognition of basic Colours; recognition of the four basic shapes: circle, square, rectangle, triangle; introduction to
Numbers, Counting skills 1-10; Alphabets and beginning sounds; tracing numbers, letters and name. Ability to vocalize needs, wants,
thoughts and ideas. Receptive language: what a child understands/comprehends; ability to follow instructions.
4 years to 5 years old: Introduction to Reading, Writing, Telling Time. Visual recognition: 10 colors: red, blue, yellow, green, orange, black,
brown, purple, pink and white; 6 shapes: square, rectangle, oval, circle, triangle and diamond. Visual recognition of colour words and
numbers using flashcards. Learn to trace and write first and last name. Introduction of “ice-cream” writing paper to reinforce the concept
of top, middle and bottom lines for proper letter formation. Directional cues will be introduced. Children will learn to print from left to right
and top to bottom.
