Nutrition and Meals
Children are provided with a nutritious lunch and snacks throughout the day. We offer nutritiously balanced meals and snacks based on
Canada's Food Guide and is cooked on site. Meals are served family style and are customized to each child’s taste and interests.
If parents prefer to supply their own food for their children we are happy to accommodate that. Meals and snack times are also viewed as a learning experience.
Healthy meals and snacks
☺ Whole grain, cold cereal with milk, milk or yogurt smoothies blended with fruit
☺ Yogurt with fresh fruit pieces or applesauce
☺ Grated or small cubes of cheese with whole grain crackers
☺ Sandwiches made with egg, tuna, chicken salad, sliced cheese, or easy-to-chew meat
☺ A small muffin and orange wedges
☺ Low sodium tomato or mixed vegetable juice
Hot foods served for healthy meals or snacks:
☺ Oatmeal or cream of wheat with milk
☺ Mini omelettes or scrambled eggs and toast
☺ Congee or rice porridge with small pieces of meat, chicken, or fish
☺ Soft tortillas filled with beans or ground meat and cheese
☺ Vegetable, split pea, or bean soup served with crackers or a whole grain bun
☺ Fish chowder with bread sticks
☺ Home-made macaroni and cheese
☺ Whole wheat pasta with tomato or meat sauce
☺ Rice or pasta and meat with vegetables
☺ Veggies, tomato sauce and cheese pizza on a whole wheat pita or English muffin
